Palabre is committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal data transparently and respectfully.

1. Data controller

The controller of the personal data collected through the Palabre platform is Palabre SAS, a simplified joint-stock company with its registered office in France. For any question about your data, you can contact us at: contact@palabre.media.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Identification data: surname, first name, email address, password (hashed), profile picture (optional).
Usage data: content viewed, reading time, interactions (likes, comments, shares), author subscriptions.
Browsing data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, connection timestamps, via cookies and similar technologies.
Payment data: for premium subscriptions, payment details are processed directly by our secure provider and are not stored by Palabre.
Author application data: biography, topics, sample publications, professional contact details.

3. Purposes and legal bases

Your data is processed for the following purposes:

Providing the service

Creating and managing your account, accessing content, subscribing to authors. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Personalisation

Content recommendations tailored to your interests. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Communications

Newsletters, notifications about new content from the authors you follow. Legal basis: consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) for marketing communications; contract for service notifications.

Improving the platform

Aggregated statistical analysis and audience measurement. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Retention period

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. If your account is deleted, personal data is erased within 30 days, with the exception of data required to meet legal obligations (invoicing: 10 years) and content published as an author (deleted on explicit request).

5. Sharing your data

Palabre does not sell any personal data to third parties. Your data may only be shared with:

Our technical providers (cloud hosting, payment, transactional email), bound by processing agreements compliant with the GDPR.
The authors you follow, strictly to the extent necessary to manage your subscription.
The competent authorities, upon judicial request.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act, you have the following rights:

Right of access: obtain a copy of your personal data.
Right to rectification: correct inaccurate data.
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”): request the deletion of your data.
Right to portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to object: object to processing based on legitimate interest.
Right to withdraw consent: at any time, for processing based on your consent.

To exercise your rights, write to contact@palabre.media. We will reply within one month at the latest. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).

7. Cookies

Palabre uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the platform working (technical, strictly necessary cookies), remember your preferences and carry out anonymised audience measurement.

Analytics and personalisation cookies are only set with your consent, collected via our cookie banner on your first visit. You can change your preferences at any time from your account settings.

8. Security

Palabre implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data: encryption in transit (TLS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), restricted internal access to data, regular security audits.

9. Changes

Palabre may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to the platform or to legal requirements. Any substantial change will be notified to you by email and/or through a visible notice on the platform.
